This year, our goal is 500 million CNY, and the company’s growth will be exponential.” As the Chinese New Year approaches, Zhejiang JINRAY Electronics Technology Co., Ltd., a key semiconductor project in Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone, is bustling with activity as a steady stream of orders keeps pouring in.
“All workers will stay at the factory during the Chinese New Year. In addition to the preferential policies from the Lishui municipal government and the development zone, we provide overtime pay in line with statutory holidays and a one-time subsidy of 3,000 CNY per worker, along with deluxe meals,” said Vice General Manager Gu Kaifeng. The company settled in the Lishui Development Zone in May 2020, acquired the land in August, began construction in October, and by March 2021, the main factory structure was topped out and interior installations began. Equipment was introduced in May, and trial production started in early August. In just four months, the company generated over 50 million CNY in output value, with 24-hour round-the-clock production still unable to keep up with the overwhelming demand.
It is understood that the Lishui Economic and Technological Development Zone has precisely focused its investment strategy on developing the entire semiconductor industry chain, creating a chip industrial base spanning 1,000 mu (approx. 67 hectares). After extensive consideration, Zhejiang JINRAY Electronics Technology Co., Ltd. decided to establish its 5.5 billion CNY investment project for wafer and epitaxial wafer manufacturing in the development zone. The project covers a total land area of 150 mu (approx. 10 hectares) and focuses on the R&D and manufacturing of high-end electronic-grade semiconductor materials (8-12 inch wafers), including cutting, grinding, polishing, and epitaxy, as well as the production of third-generation compound semiconductor epitaxial wafers. The project is expected to reach full production capacity by 2024, with an annual output value of 6 billion CNY and 350 million CNY in tax revenue.
Gu Kaifeng stated that the company’s rapid production ramp-up and strong sales performance are due to the significant support provided by the development zone in terms of policy, funding, and electricity supply. The authorities addressed the company's challenges promptly, allowing for uninterrupted construction and stable production. "At present, only 24 epitaxial furnaces are running at full capacity 24 hours a day. This year, we plan to increase that number to 70 furnaces and recruit more than 100 additional employees. We have already established strategic partnerships with several well-known chip companies and listed firms, and the market prospects look very promising." |
